Bees discovering ZOO

Also BEES went for Erasmus trip to ZOO in Opole with the main aim to find the answer on their mind map question. DO CATS LIVE IN A ZOO?

Answer to this question wasn`t as obvious as we, adults, think. That is because Bees havent got the slightest idea about wild cats…

Walking from one stall to another Bees tried to find arguments for the proof that animal IS or IS NOT a CAT. Cat`s features (which were previously discovered) were very helpful. Children were checking if animals they evaluate have: whiskers, tail, fur, four paws ended with claws… Every Bee already knows that cats have no humps, no feathers, flippers or hoofs. Even though teachers suggested that, cat is not the same as camel, donkey or owl…

With a great amazement Bees watched medical training of sea lions – and tricks their trainer tought animals to prepare them for serious medical checking one day…

Also Mr Gorilla (who is not a cat for sure) stole children`s hearts – he crunched cucumbers, apples and carrots, perfectly opened the bottle with water, giving children the best example of healthy nutrition.

Let`s go back to the topic of cats living in ZOO. Suprisingly, on one of lanes and in one of stalls children noticed animals which went with description of cats! But, are those two cats the only cats in the ZOO?

A moment after, Bees saw an animal which was certainly not a pet, but still show all cats` features. From information board they discovered that it is a CHEETAH. Its` picture and name was in our discovery book! After long discussion children stated that there are animals called cats but they don`t seem to be tamed, cause we cant meet them in homes or on the street. Mr Cheetah was proudly posing, while children were changing cat`s scheme into cheetah…

Another cat, called JAGUARUNDI was hiding in the deep part of his pen. Oh, so many letters in his name, like in any other cat species.

While Bees were having their lunch, a big LION was watching at them – luckily he was just a sculpture. When children were searching a way back to the entrance on the map, they didnt even noticed a family of little cheetahs be all eyes on them and waving happily with their tails…

Cats are amazing No matter if they are brown, black or grey. If they are big or small. if they live in our houses, in the junle or in the zoo. Even Green Cat from Icelandic Saga is exceptional. As much as our fabulous adventure in ZOO!

Ladybirds and a Green Cat Saga

Some time ago also Ladybirds discovered Icelandic Saga of the Green Cat! The beginning of their adventure is somewhere in June, when we go back in a time for a while…

One day – a group of Ladybirds went to the preschool garden and listened to the story about Green Cat. Everyone was listening with attention and curiosity. Children was watching drawings in a book and answered some questions to the story plot. Meantime – the Green Cat was liyng on the green grass, taking a pleasurable sunbath…

When the story was over, it turned out that little green cats were hiding all around in the garden. With a serious keenness Ladybirds were running here and there, looking in every nook and cranny to find them all. Finally – everyone had his own green cat!

After this tiring searching, everyone deserved for a moment of relax. Sitting again in a circle, Ladybirds were looking on their cats and comparing them with project Green Cat – pointing out their paws, ears, noses and even tails.

When children went back to the classroom, children ruled to draw the cat they would dream to have. They were working with a gust to get a dream creation, and when they finished – every cat got his own name.

High and low with Green cat

We have great fun with Green Cat in Bees.
Today we played a lot with high and low meaning.

It only seems to be easy to use these words in practice. We played with “high” and “low”meaning, sounds and reflex, also practicing Filemon and Bonifacy`s names.

Miaow to everyone!

Features and symbols

Bees have already met three amazing cats – Green cat, Bonifacy and Filemon. What are their main features? Can we show them by symbols?

We collected our cats and a set of symbols to join them with cats.

After interactive activities on Smart Board about symbols and first letters in cats` names, children tried to join features and names to cats mascots.

When we sum up cats features we realized tha we do not know Green Cat name! Does this sweet kitty have his own name of not? Is it girl or a boy? So many questions to discover!
