Today Laut (our youngest) went to a field trip and took the green cat with them. The children wanted the green cat to meet other animals.
It was fun to see three other cats on our walk. We found out that one of teacher in our preschool owns one of the cat, it name is Súsí and is very friendly.
Hedgehogs and Suns discovered first adventures of the Green Cat who came from Iceland in April. We gave him a special name – Islandek. The cat was wagging his tail, purring to our ears, cuddling and touching with his pink nose. We were playing with Islandek, our fingers, toes and numbers. Then – we made an art work – a picture of a cat on the meadow.
The picture of a cat sitting among flowers was an inspiration to find a colourful place with lots of flowers for our Islandek. First, we tried to find them in the Football Stadium (but there was just a grass). Then we entered the Botanic Garden. Green Cat found many plan species and colourful borders – full of spring flowers! Unfortunately, we couldn`t walk every place where Green Cat jumped into. We didn`t want to tread flowers or couldn`t jump so high! Islandek can climb very high!
How do you think, what did the Green Cat notice in a pond?
When the children have been drawing things from the story, they have talked about the green cat, the dog who was helpful to the mouse and bit the spotted ball. They draw the cats ears, feet and its tale. It will be fun to see what they will draw when we have learned more about the story 🙂
After reading the book we went to a fieldtrip with the cats. The children wanted to find a mouse for the cats to play with and to eat. After a lot of search guess what…they found….. a little gray mouse! The children said they should be friends and play together. The cat should not eat this little mouse as they said in the beginning.
We wanted to pretend we were cats. So we decided to go for a walk. The cats ran around the big grass and said Mjá, Mjá. When the cats stooped the strected their four feet. The cats had to climb a big slope, it was hard but they did it!
In large group gathering in Laut (with our youngest) we talked about the green cat. We know he is SWEET and NOT MEAN (text talk), but when he is not sweet he can be very angry.
He finds it funny to tickle us, he tickles our ten tiger toes.
We also saw that he wanted to eat our lunch. We had fish and the green cat would like to eat it because he likes fish.
We practice counting, feets, ears and eyes.. ours and the animals
As we were talking about the facts our student know about cats, they had the idea to create a cat with objects that they have in class. They used some ropes, some hockey sticks and some elements from the toy kitchen such as a pair of plates to represent the eyes, a banana to represent the mouth or a pear to represent the nose. They also used sport cones and construction toys to create the ears and the whiskers respectively. They had fun while working together.
